Privacy Policy for TrotTracker G3
Last updated: July 25, 2026
1. Introduction
TrotTracker ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your personal information is collected, used, and disclosed by TrotTracker. This Privacy Policy applies to our website (trottracker.com) and our mobile application (TrotTracker G3).
2. Information We Collect
We collect information to provide better services to all our users. The types of information we collect include:
- Account Information: When you register, we collect your email address to create, secure, and identify your account. Your email address is also your login identifier.
- Location Data (GPS): The mobile app uses the Apple device's built-in GPS to calculate pace, speed, distance, altitude, lap times, and route during an active training session. Guest training data remains on the device. When a user signs in and chooses to synchronize a training session, its GPS route and summary are stored on our first-party server and linked to that account.
- Horse and Training Data: We store horse names, training notes, and synchronized training records that signed-in users add to their account.
- Images on the Website: The website dashboard may allow a signed-in user to upload an optional horse image. The current iOS app does not request access to the camera or photo library and does not upload photos or videos.
- Usage Statistics: We collect first-party usage events such as app launches or app features used, time, platform, app version, and country code when available. For anonymous app use, the installation identifier is irreversibly hashed before storage and is not linked to an account. When a user is signed in, usage events may be linked to the account so active free and premium users can be counted. The analytics module does not store raw IP addresses or raw installation identifiers.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain our services.
- Calculate and display training statistics (speed, distance, maps).
- Synchronize your data between the mobile app and the website dashboard.
- Manage your account and subscription (Free/Premium).
- Understand which app and website functions are used and improve reliability and usability.
- Create administrator-only aggregate country statistics from a representative GPS point in stored training sessions. Exact routes and coordinates are not shown in these statistics and are not sent to an external reverse-geocoding service.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely on our servers. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. First-party usage events are retained for up to 13 months and then deleted automatically.
5. Third-Party Services
We may use third-party services for specific functions:
- OpenStreetMap: Map tiles are used on the website to visualize training routes.
- Payment Providers (Apple/Google): For processing Premium subscriptions. We do not store your credit card information directly.
6. Device Sensors and External Hardware
The current iOS app uses only the Apple device's built-in GPS and motion sensors. It does not pair with, connect to, or require Bluetooth equipment, wearables, external GPS receivers, or any other external training hardware.
7. Tracking and Advertising
TrotTracker uses first-party, privacy-conscious usage statistics to understand service activity. We do not use this information for targeted advertising, do not link app data with third-party data for advertising measurement, and do not sell or share user data with data brokers.
8. Data Deletion
You have the right to request the deletion of your account and all associated data. You can delete specific training sessions directly within the app or website. You can delete your account from the app settings. If you cannot access the in-app control, contact us at support@trottracker.com or follow the instructions on our account deletion page.
